Vice President of Sales, Casual Games Group
New York, Chicago or San Francisco
Opportunity Snapshot
Recent market research estimates that advertising in casual gaming will grow into a billion-dollar industry by 2011. To top that off, women account for 40% of all gamers and casual gamers spend upwards of 40 to 50 hours a month gaming. With these kinds of numbers, Double Fusion, the game advertising expert, is getting even more serious with casual gaming; in fact, our recent partnership with Yahoo Games easily propels us to a leadership position in this fast-growing category!
We have been serving both "core" and casual games advertisers with a unified sales force, and are now looking to add even more specialized and focused market experts to target the hard-to-reach casual gaming community -- teens & females 35 to 54. Towards that end, we are seeking a new media sales superstar who really "gets" what women want and can help us evangelize this new medium. You will play a key role in developing and driving the casual games strategy as you build compelling marketing campaigns that resonate with female gamers and of course, generate revenue. To be a good fit for this opportunity, you will ideally have worked in a media company that targets the female demographic (such as People, Good Housekeeping and Redbook magazines), with experience in interactive advertising, and be able to bring a rolodex of relevant contacts.
Known for creative marketing campaigns, Double Fusion connects brands with audiences through the immersive medium of games. Fueled by our award-winning dynamic ad serving technology and a worldwide sales force, we serve both the game publisher and advertiser communities and our integrated marketing solutions continue to inspire Fortune 500 companies to get in the game with groundbreaking advertising campaigns.
What Else You'll Bring to the Table
- 10+ years of advertising sales experience with at least 5 years in interactive/rich media sales.
- Proven leadership skills & the ability to manage & motivate a sales team.
- Deep knowledge of female brands including consumer products, entertainment, health care, and other lifestyle segments.
- Startup success in building interactive sales strategies and solutions, ability to think "on the fly," and good negotiation skills.
- The ability to plan and manage at both the strategic and operational levels.
- Impeccable communication skills to develop and deliver polished client presentations to C-level executives and agencies.
- A team player approach and the ability to be effective in a fast paced, dynamic environment.
- Computer proficiency in a Microsoft Office environment.
- Ability to travel in the field, up to 50% of the time.
Preferred, but not required:
- Bachelor's degree.
- Background and/or experience with a casual gaming company, such as Pogo, is highly desirable.
What's in It for You
- Top compensation -- bottom line, a career in sales is about earning a great income, yet that often comes at the expense of a base salary and benefits; that is not the case here. In addition to a competitive base and incentive plan, we offer a comprehensive benefits package, including equity options that may potentially allow you to earn big.
- Chance to make media history in a "rising star" category -- interactive entertainment is one of the fastest growing categories across female audiences and advertisers are just beginning to realize this huge market potential. As you help advertisers embrace this new model, you will drive new revenue streams that will shape our reputation and profitability in this competitive marketplace for years to come and your contributions will be keenly watched by our executive leadership team.
- Customizable product that offers something for everyone -- Double Fusion delivers the widest range of programs with a "smorgasbord" of options -- you'll have a veritable toolkit of interactive marketing constituents to play with. Each marketing campaign is different and some advertisers' goals are best realized through single deep campaigns while others benefit from a network approach across multiple titles. Our unique media capabilities across 2D and 3D games allow advertisers to benefit from a level of interaction that's simply not possible with traditional advertising. In fact, research from Nielsen has shown the superior recall and purchase preference results that 3D programs deliver.
- The best of both worlds -- we're well-funded with financial backing from top-tier venture capital firms plus media giants such as Time Warner and Hearst, and you'll also enjoy the entrepreneurial vigor and intoxicating fast-paced energy of a true start-up environment.
- Career growth -- "growth" is the operative word here, and as you help position us for growth, you'll also be able to take advantage of the "upward draft" of opportunity.
- Great working environment -- our culture is all about creativity, integrity and fun! To top that off, you'll be working with some of the best minds in the business -- an elite team of international strategists and technologists who've launched successful brands in the past.
More About Your Role
Reporting to the Senior Vice President, Worldwide Sales, you will be based out of New York or Chicago to target the major hub of advertisers in those areas. Coming aboard, your main objective will be to continue to build a casual-focused sales organization that will have regional components. While the precise makeup of this organization will evolve over time, we expect that you will assume leadership of 4-6 sales reps in the first year, with more to follow, and model the appropriate consultative style for the team as you identify new clients and partners and make creative presentations to articulate the Double Fusion "story" and foster win-win partnerships. You will also ensure that that we have industry best practices and structures in place to drive consistent revenue growth.
Since ours is a start-up environment, some of your key challenges are to define and develop our overall sales development strategy in an undefined, evolving environment. Your specific responsibilities are to:
- Lead the development of Double Fusion's casual advertising strategy working closely with marketing, R&D, business development and product management teams.
- Define the existing inventory as well as determine best uses for that inventory.
- Size and prioritize various advertiser segments for the sales teams.
- Oversee the sales team and establish compensation, training, and sales incentive programs.
- Develop and maintain key customer relationships and develop and implement strategies for expanding the company's casual customer base.
- Manage the overall sales process, including setting appropriate metrics for sales funnel management.
- Accurately forecast revenue growth.
- Remain abreast of trends in the interactive marketplace and proactively develop plans to respond appropriately to potential opportunities or challenges.
Keys to Success
As the paradigm for dynamic ad revenue becomes more standardized it will be easier to attract advertisers, but until then you will position yourself as a positive catalyst for change and your success in this role will depend upon your ability to motivate and influence a wide variety of people to embrace new ways of doing things. You will position yourself as the guiding force behind the ongoing development of your sales team and motivate them to achieve sales excellence in the casual category. Other facets of success will be to:
- Maintain a strategic approach to problem solving, continually evaluating our processes and systems as you look for creative ways to help us achieve our revenue objectives.
- Showcase exemplary customer service along with a "can-do" attitude -- you won't be afraid to roll up your sleeves and do whatever it takes to meet our advertisers' expectations.
- Emanate discernible energy and be able to move 95 mph in a 55 mph world showcasing a sense of urgency and solid focus to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Maintain in-depth knowledge of the interactive space along with key trends in casual advertising, customization and interaction and be able to convey that expertise within the organization and prioritize opportunities.
If this sounds like the right mix of challenge and opportunity, we want to hear from you!
Who We Are
Double Fusion was started in 2004 to develop a powerful in-game content update system that would allow game developers to dynamically change elements of their game. Double Fusion serves both the game publisher and advertising communities, and we offer different advantages to each group. For publishers, we provide the best and most complete technology, creative and sales solution for adding advertising to their games. And for advertisers, we deliver the widest range of programs and options that meet the advertiser's goals.
We are privately held and headquartered in San Francisco, with R&D based out of Jerusalem, and satellite offices and affiliates in London, New York, Los Angeles, and Shanghai. For more information, please visit www.doublefusion.com.
